JP Morgan Tokenizes Private Equity Using Its Own Blockchain
JPMorgan Chase has taken a significant step into the world of real-world asset (RWA) tokenization by digitizing private equity funds on its proprietary blockchain network. The initiative, currently targeting the bank’s private banking clients, offers investors early access to a streamlined investment method. This MOVE signals a broader digital transformation, with the full rollout of the platform, Kinexys Fund Flow, expected by 2026.
The platform converts ownership stakes in illiquid assets into digital tokens, integrating distributed ledger technology (DLT) into traditional finance. JPMorgan plans to expand its tokenization efforts to include hedge funds, private credit, and real estate, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Tokenization could slash settlement times from weeks to near-instantaneous, while also improving liquidity for high-net-worth investors.
